THE SIMPLE ACT OF WASHING HANDS HAS A HUGE IMPACT ON HEALTH

“Though diarrhea kills over 2 million children a year, it is increasingly neglected by international and national health programmes. The simple act of washing hands with soap could save almost half of these lives.  However, hand washing with soap at critical times is practiced by less than 20% of the population of developing countries."

FOR EACH SOAPSTANDLE SOLD, ONE WILL BE DONATED

Working directly with agencies in areas with scarce resources, SoapStandle's goal is to promote safer hygiene practices. Our hope is that the convenience of SoapStandle may encourage hand-washing in parts of the world where it is currently neglected. SoapStandle would like to be there, and will work with agencies to make it available. We can have a huge impact... there are hundreds of millions of people that use soap every day... and they either use liquid soap that generates plastic waste and uses unneeded extra energy to produce, or they encounter some form of soap goo. If the word on this gets around, there's less plastic being thrown in landfills and finding its way to oceans, smaller carbon footprints for the soap that is used, homes are a less gooey place, and people save a little money while they do it. And we can put a dent in childhood diseases elsewhere in the world.

And don't think large numbers can't happen. It begins with just a few people. If 20 people get on board and each get two friends to consider it / like it / use it, and those two friends in turn each get two friends... and those two... after the 14th round of that, 655,340 people like the idea. That's a great start. You can help by participating and spreading the word. See the June 14, 2016 blog entry "Sundara... and SoapStandle in India!"
